The mission of North Wilmot Union Meeting House Society (NWUMHS), established as a nonprofit 501c3 in 1984, is to maintain and preserve the 1829 North Wilmot Church and schedule summer programs that commemorate the building’s history.

Through an annual appeal, the organization raises money to fund its budget. In a normal year, the budget is less than $10,000. Yearly costs include: property and liability insurance, educational programs, Sunday services, an annual Community Hymn Sing, and concerts.

When the organization plans significant maintenance or restoration projects, it embarks on a capital campaign. During a capital campaign, the meeting house society seeks funds from individuals, businesses, and foundations.
